Trivia / Romper Room

  • Missing Episode: Most of the local versions are missing due to stations erasing the master tapes and reusing them for other programs.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: It's rumored that in one episode of the Japanese version, Miss Midori asked the children if they knew any words beginning with the Japanese letter "ki", and a boy responded with "I know: kintama!", which is Japanese slang for testicles. The teacher then asked the boy if he could think of something a bit more kireina ("nice" in Japanese), prompting the boy to respond with "Kireina kintama!" ("Nice nuts!") After cutting to commercial, the boy was replaced with a teddy bear. According to a Yahoo Answers inquiry, this isn't the case: Miss Midori actually had a child who was being too loud on the show, not a child who said a swear word, and asked him to leave.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor:
    • Sherri Finkbine, the hostess of the Phoenix version, lost her job in the controversy surrounding her getting an abortion due to having taken thalidomide during the pregnancy and (correctly) fearing that the child would be deformed.
    • The Paraguay version went through three hosts in its short run. The first one, Alicia Gomez-Trauchtenberg, was fired nine days in due to her ties with a pro-Nazi group. The second one was an accordionist who played spirituals for the tenth episode as a stop-gap measure. The third one, Juana Corazon, was fired after seven days when it turned out she acted in at least two pornographic films; at that point, the producers gave up and cancelled the series rather than find a fourth host.
