Trivia / Redman

  • No Budget: And it shows. The monster suits are incredibly old and shabby (some of them hadn't been used in years), the backgrounds are extremely cheap locations probably not too far from the studio, and the fights use few flashy beam attacks so as to not have to animate them afterwards.
  • Prop Recycling:
    • Almost all the monster suits from the show are the ones used in the Ultra Series...in varying states of deterioration.
    • The Red Arrow is recycled from Ultraman Jack's Ultra Cross.
  • What Could Have Been: There were plans to have three original monsters in the show (a moth kaiju named Big Liger, a Red King-Earthtron hybrid named Graygas, and a pharaoh-like robot called Sufinga), but the lack of budget meant it was too expensive to make new suits.
  • Word of God: One of the main reasons behind Redman's Alternate Character Interpretation as a violent serial murderer of monsters is due to a sheer lack of exposition in the series. On screen, Redman appears to have no host at all, often appearing right off the bat in the landscape, and even the monsters that fight him don't seem to fight very well. According to supplementary material, Redman's backstory is considerably more fleshed out. Redman is a peace-loving(!) warrior from Planet Red in the Red Nebula, who came to Earth after an invading alien force ravaged his planet. Much like Ultraseven, Redman has no time limit, since he can use sunlight as his energy source, but without the need for Protectors to absorb the energy, though at midday he has a time limit of 30 minutes (perhaps to avoid energy overload).
