• Channel Hop: It was originally produced for TNT, but the network passed on it. Sister entity HBO Max subsequently picked it up as a Max Original.
• Creator-Driven Successor: To producer Ridley Scott's Alien prequel series, expanding on those films' themes of religion and creation stories (as well as contrasting androids against humans and presenting androids who wish to become creators themselves), but without the bounds of a famous franchise constraining the storyline.
