• Acting for Two: Shane Madej plays almost all of the puppets and also himself.
• The Cast Showoff: The series showcases Shane's talents in history, narrative storytelling, graphics, puppet-making, voice acting, improvisational comedy, lyric-writing, and singing.
• Real-Life Relative: Episode 3.01's special guest competitor is Sara Rubin, Shane Madej's (The Professor) long-time partner. The same goes for Obi, Sara's (and Shane's) cat, who makes a cameo appearance in the episode. The Professor is normally scared of cats, but notes that this particular cat is "a handsome fella."
• Real Life Writes the Plot: The Ryan-always-loses bit was made necessary by the pandemic and subsequent switch to virtual filming: since the Coveted Cup had to be mailed to the winner, the only way to actually have them receive it in time to record the episode was to send it in advance. This meant that the guest always won, through increasingly dubious means, and formed the basis of the overarching plot for season 4.
• Serendipity Writes the Plot: The Professor in season 6 became much bigger than his previous incarnations in large part due to Shane feeling the size of the previous puppet caused too much straining in his hand.
