• Acting for Two: Chris Rock plays both Daddy Tang and Pootie's friend J.B., and a one off bit as a radio DJ.
• Box Office Bomb: Budget, $7,000,000. Box office, $3,313,583.
• Creator Backlash: Louis C.K. called the film he wrote and directed "a tragedy to me", and was such a mess during production that he was eventually fired from the project. On the plus side, he did say that all the mistakes he experienced with this film helped him learn what to do and not to do when he had full creative control for Louie.
• What Could Have Been: The first draft of the script was more explicit in terms of sex, violence and language, with Pootie Tang even depicted killing people with a gun. The studio asked Louis CK to rewrite the script to get a PG-13 rating - Louis ultimately found he preferred the more positive, heroic version of Pootie that resulted from this rewrite.
