• Development Hell: On the 7th episode, the show went on a long hiatus to make two major name changes; one for the show's title change and the other for Polly's name change (likely due to her being too similar to a certain other yellow-haired Polly and causing confusion over that). Every scene mentioning Polly in each episode was redubbed to say Frankie, which meant that some alliterative jokes and others working off of her old name were dropped.
• Orphaned Reference: Some of the jokes that worked off Frankie's old name of Polly were kept. For instance, in "Dreams O'Clock", Jessica Beeker calls Frankie "Penny", misremembering her name. Presumably, this is a leftover from when her name was "Polly", which sounds more like "Penny" than "Frankie" does.
• The Other Darrin: None of the original actors from the Quest for Zhu film reprise their role in the series. Justified, due to the series being produced in Toronto instead of Vancouver.
• Post-Release Retitle: Polly and the Zhu Zhu Pets was renamed The ZhuZhus beginning with the 8th episode and had the protagonist renamed to Frankie, likely to avoid confusion with Polly Pocket.
• Schedule Slip: Disney constantly delayed episodes and later kept them only to the WATCH Disney Channel app.
• Screwed by the Network: Disney Channel often removed the show from its lineup and sometimes didn't have the show return for months.
  • Contrary to what you'd think, this is completely subverted in terms of the show's name change, due to the ratings actually getting better once Polly was changed to Frankie. At least, for a little while. However, that still didn't stop Disney Channel from messing with its schedule.
  • Now Disney has nearly completely forgotten about the show, with it being completely removed from the DisneyNOW app and no status on a renewal or cancellation.
