- Actor-Shared Background: Datu Junmar is played by Evan Dane Taylor, who has mixed Filipino ancestry from his mother, who's a first-generation Filipino American.
- Banned in China: The film was voluntarily pulled out from showing in the Philippines after Senator Robin Padilla called for its ban due to its negative portrayal of the Philippines by portraying Jolo as being run by militias and insurgents, and the Philippine government and their military as cowards who are unable to do anything (the latter even left the island beforehand). Despite the Directors' Guild of the Philippines being opposed to such ban (since it's considered part of a freedom of expression, and simply an overreaction to a B-movie), screen Media Films Co. plans to provide the MTRCB with a "new version of the film for appropriate review and classification".
- California Doubling: Set in the Philippines, but shot in Puerto Rico.
