- Author's Saving Throw: After many readers criticised the scene in the nightclub where Ben gropes Fallon despite her saying no, arguing it romanticised sexual assault, Colleen Hoover re-released the book with edits made to the scene to make it less questionable, with Ben no longer ignoring Fallon's protests and Fallon more clearly flirting back with him.
- What Could Have Been: Colleen Hoover stated that while the main premise of two people only meeting up on a specific date and sharing a strong connection was there from the start, during the writing process the story ended up going in a different direction than she'd expected, in particular becoming more serious and dramatic in tone than she'd originally intended.Hoover: I knew I wanted the characters to interact on that date only. I knew I wanted them to have a great instant connection, like they’d been lifelong friends. But other than that, I wasn’t sure where the story was going to go. I usually don’t until I actually sit down to write and get to know the characters. And I was shocked where the story went. This was supposed to be my sweet, funny book. But it veered off course and I went with it.
