Trivia / Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Go To

  • Dummied Out: The PlayStation release of III: Hot Pursuit had an alternate course based on Empire City that used the inaccessible closed paths seen in the track left unfinished and cut before release. The aforementioned closed paths can't be found in the PC releases of III: Hot Pursuit and High Stakes.
  • Milestone Celebration: Hot Pursuit Remastered was released during the tenth anniversary of Criterion's 2010 original.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: Three cars were removed from the 2010 Hot Pursuit when it was remastered in 2020 due to legal issues surrounding them.
    • Carbon Motors E7 Concept: The company closed in 2013 after the U.S. Department of Energy denied them a loan the previous year. The car never got a production model.
    • Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (the 722 Edition and Stirling Moss models): While these two models were seen in trailers and could be found in the game files, they're not playable due to being stuck in licensing hell, especially due to both Mercedes-Benz and McLaren themselves being competitors now (Mercedes-Benz sold off their 40% stake in the McLaren Group over two years beginning in November 2009).
