• Ascended Fanon: The resemblance between filly!Bon Bon and Twist would seem to confirm that the two are related (a theory that was previously based solely on them both having confectionary-themed Cutie Marks and being earth ponies with cream-colored coats).
• The Cast Showoff: It's an episode guest-starring Weird Al. Of course he's going to sing in it!
• Content Leak: Similar to Hearts and Hooves Day, this episode was somehow leaked a day before its release.
• Early-Bird Cameo: Small details of this episode were highlighted at the 2013 SDCC MLP panel, affirming that it would be written by Amy Keating Rodgers, that it would be a "musical episode" and that Pinkie "meets someone who gives her a run for her money".
  • "Weird Al" Yankovic hinted his appearance on the show in this 2012 video taken with William Anderson (the show's composer and former Yankovic band member).
• First Appearance: Of Cheese Sandwich.
• Non-Singing Voice: As usual, Shannon Chan-Kent provides the singing for most of Pinkie's songs. However, Pinkie's regular voice actress, Andrea Libman, sang "The Goof-Off."
• Reality Subtext: In "Cheese Confesses", Cheese Sandwich says that he was awkward and shy until he stumbled into the Pinkie Pie Party in Ponyville that convinced him to become a party pony himself. Many Bronies self-identify as awkward as well, and claim to have found a sense of belonging through the show's fandom.
• Word of God: The live cutaway of Boneless was made by filling a chicken balloon with rice, and filmed in Jayson Thiesson's home, per Word of God.
  • The extended version of "Make a Wish" was released on the second MLP soundtrack album, Songs of Ponyville.
