Trivia / Moon over Miami

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: Don Ameche is the last of the four protagonists to be introduced and is billed second, before Carole Landis, who is arguably the Deuteragonist. Jack Haley likewise is billed before Charlotte Greenwood, who is a more prominent character.
  • California Doubling: They had planned to film entirely on location in Miami, but bad weather meant they could only film a few location shots and second-unit scenes, so the majority was shot in California.
  • The Cast Show Off: Charlotte Greenwood was known for her high kicks, and thus is given a number to show them off.
  • Descended Creator: Kay's partner in the "Kindergarten Conga" is Hermes Pan, who was the movie's choreographer.
  • Separated-at-Birth Casting: Betty Grable and Carole Landis definitely look like they could be sisters, and Charlotte Greenwood could believably be their aunt.
  • Those Two Actors: Betty Grable and Carole Landis starred together in I Wake Up Screaming and Four Jills in a Jeep, as well as touring together to entertain the troops during World War II (which is what the latter is based on).
  • Typecasting: Don Ameche and Betty Grable had played love interests in Down Argentine Way the previous year.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Names banded about for the two sisters included Gene Tierney for Kay and Virginia Gilmore for Barbara. John Payne and Dana Andrews were considered for Phil and Jeff.
    • Barbara was originally to be played by Joan Davis, but she was eventually replaced with Carole Landis.
    • George Lessey also replaced Laird Creeger in the role of William Bolton, due to the latter falling ill.
