  • Age-Gap Romance: In the 1990s, Momus - then in his mid 30s - courted controversy for being in a relationship with 17-year old Israeli student Shazna Nessa, which he dedicated the album Timelord to. The furore led to a custody battle with Begum's family and losing his contract with Creation Records.
  • Executive Meddling: Tender Pervert was originally going to be called The Homosexual, until Momus' record label, Creation (who would later be known for My Bloody Valentine and Oasis), refused to let him release it under that title in the homophobic climate of the time, fearing it would hurt sales.
  • Limey Goes to Hollywood: Conspicuously averted. While Momus has lived in many cities over the years including London, Athens, Tokyo, Osaka, New York, Paris and Berlin (he currently divides his time between the latter two cities), he has never gone anywhere near Los Angeles.
  • Streisand Effect: In 1998, Wendy Carlos sued Momus over his song "Walter Carlos" from The Little Red Songbook, a semi-satirical tribute to her with Time Travel, forcing that song to be removed from- years later, that song was uploaded to Youtube, and while it didn't blow up into massive popularity, it still got a rather above-average amount of views, with most of the comments on the video admitting they only knew about the song because of the lawsuit, and some even namedropping the Streisand effect.
