* MarthDebutedInSmashBros: While the game hasn't seen an overseas release up until the ''XD'' remaster, Michael Wilson and his mech Metal Wolf made an early cameo appearance as a recruitable Golem under the name of "Executor" in ''VideoGame/EnchantedArms'', a turn-based RPG game also by [=FromSoftware=] released for the Xbox 360 in 2006 and later [=PlayStation=] 3. He was also featured with other cameo characters from [=FromSoftware=]'s previous titles (e.g. Raikoh from ''VideoGame/{{Otogi|MythOfDemons}}'').

* OldShame: Masanori Takeuchi, the producer of ''Metal Wolf Chaos'', had expressed regret over not being able to release the game overseas, however he felt that a game featuring the U.S. President shooting down other (corrupt) U.S. military soldiers wouldn't be acceptable around American audiences due to the War on Terror occurring around the time of the original game's release.

The game is set chronologically earlier than ''Metal Wolf Chaos'', and Michael Wilson (well, his father at least) gets a PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo as the player's boss. He's taken hostage by a villainous ninja halfway through the game, and an entire {{cutscene}} is devoted to him breaking out of his bonds and ''beating the shit out of the ninja with his bare hands.'' (Yes, the President gets kidnapped by a ninja, but [[VideoGame/BadDudes he's a bad enough dude to save himself]].)
** Gameplay-wise ''Armored Core 5'' is a tweaked ''Metal Wolf Chaos'' with some ''VideoGame/ChromeHounds'' thrown in.

* MeaningfulReleaseDate: The ''XD'' port's release date is the 74th anniversary of the nuking of Hiroshima, fitting for a game about Americans blowing things up.

* ScrewedByTheNetwork: It's said that the reason this game didn't make it to America is that Creator/FromSoftware couldn't get a publisher.
