- Milestone Celebration:
- Metal Slug Attack is treated by SNK as the 20th anniversary game of the Metal Slug series.
- Like its predecessor, there are various celebrations for each couple of million downloads. Medals and pieces of a new Hyakumantaro are given to the players each daily login. In the 11 million download celebration, pieces of the Sandbag were given instead. Well Soldiers were the reward unit for 12 million downloads.
- The game's title screen changes and the version number moves to the next whole number every anniversary.
- Refitted for Sequel: Comes home to roost. Some of the unused enemies and sprite animations from the arcade Metal Slug games are reused here, such as the Stone Turtle and Ptolemaios.
