** After the Behind the Scenes look for episode 14 "Candy Morningstar" was released, plenty of fans correctly guessed that [[spoiler:Lucifer's marriage to Candy was fake.]]
** Likewise, many people managed to guess that [[spoiler:Lucifer gets his wings back in 2x18]].
** After a writer dropped a hint that the season finale would end on a cliffhanger, a number of people managed to guess that the cliffhanger would be [[spoiler: Chloe discovering the truth about Lucifer]].
** Who didn't guess from the moment that [[spoiler: God said he was retiring that Amenadiel would take the big seat in the end?]]

** A doctor in a plastic mask gives a SadisticChoice to a successful person: cut off what makes you successful, i.e. an actor's face, a surgeon's hands, etc., or an innocent person will die horribly. The man behind the mask? [[spoiler:Tim Dekay, known mostly for playing IncorruptiblePurePureness LawfulGood good guys.]] And because he's such a typecast actor, the viewers never see TheReveal coming.

*** Rachael Harris plays Gertie, a bartender at Garden Club.

* AbsenteeActor:
** Linda doesn't appear in "Wingman", "The Weaponizer", "What Would Lucifer Do?", "Welcome Back, Charlotte Richards", "The Sin Bin", "City of Angels?" (Justified since it's an OriginsEpisode), "Til Death Do Us Part" and "Boo Normal".
** Ella is completely absent from "Monster", "Stewardess Interruptus", "Mr. & Mrs. Mazikeen Smith", "City of Angels?" (Justified since it's an OriginsEpisode) and "Til Death Do Us Part".
** Amenadiel and Lucifer's mom are absent in "My Little Monkey". This is likely due to the heavy focus on Chloe's backstory and Lucifer dealing with the fallout of [[spoiler:revealing his true face to Linda]] from the aforementioned episode.
** Trixie doesn't appear in a number of episodes, most likely due to child labour laws. In the first two seasons, she appears in 10 episodes each season, missing out 3 in Season 1 and 6 in 2. In season 3, she appears in 12 out of 26 episodes, while in season 4, she only misses out 3 episodes ("Somebody's Been Reading Dante's Inferno, "All About Eve", and "Expire Erect"). In the final two seasons, however, she misses out a ''lot'' of episodes, as Scarlett Estevez was committed to ''Series/{{Bunkd}}''. Trixie's absence is usually justified with either her staying with her grandmother or going to a summer camp.
** Maze does not appear in the first few episodes of season 3, only appearing in the episodes that were held over from the second season (see Out Of Order below). This is due to Creator/LesleyAnnBrandt being in the final stages of her pregnancy and giving birth.

*** According to Creator/LindseyGort (who plays Candy), after her SpitTake in "Vegas With Some Radish", Ellis ad-line d "ah, so you're a squirter". Unfortunately, it didn't make it into the episode.

* FanNickname: Lucifer's mother/Charlotte is nicknamed in some circles as "Momlotte", given that her real name has yet to be revealed. Ultimately the show just went with “Goddess”, despite God actually having a name in The Bible, [[TheUnpronounceable YHVH/YHWH]], the closest pronounceable approximation being Yahweh.

* CharacterSpecificPages: [[Characters/Lucifer2016LuciferMorningstar Lucifer Morningstar]].

* WrittenInInfirmity: Rachael Harris' pregnancy was written-in in season 4 with Linda getting pregnant [[spoiler:with Amenadiel's son]].

* SeparatedAtBirthCasting: Rachael Harris and Alexandra Grossi honestly look more like sisters than mother and daughter (Harris is undoubtedly older than her character), but they do have an uncanny resemblance to one another.

*** Creator/LesleyAnnBrandt plays a young Lilith. Lucifer's narration lampshades the fact that Maze looks exactly like her mother.
*** Creator/LaurenGerman plays [[CrosscastRole Jack Monroe]], a private investigator Lucifer hires.

* ActorInspiredElement: It was Kevin Alejandro's idea that [[spoiler:Dan be [[KilledByRequest killed off]] right before what was then supposed to be the end of the show, specifically because of how unfair it was that he didn't get to put a final button on his redemption story arc, and the agonized place it would put both Lucifer and Chloe in the finale.]]
* CaliforniaDoubling: [[ZigZaggedTrope Zig-Zagged]]. While the pilot episode was shot in Los Angeles the rest of the first season and all of the second were shot in Vancouver. Averted starting with the third season when production moved back to L.A..

* CastingGag: They may not have interacted as closely as they do here, but this show isn't the first time Charlotte and Dan's actors have been on a [[Series/BurnNotice show together.]]

* GeniusBonus: Several. For instance, in one episode, Lucifer states that Oscar Wilde was straight before he met our titular devil. Knowledgeable viewers will know that Wilde, while famous today for his homosexuality, had sexual affairs with several women before he married. Only after his wedding did he seem to have started having sex with men exclusively (besides his wife, of course). It's theorized that one of the reasons was since his rationalized same sex as not really cheating.

** Who didn't guess from the moment that [[spoiler: God said he was retiring that Amenadiel would take the big seat in the end.]]
* LyingCreator: During the filming of the Arrowverse's ''Series/{{Crisis on Infinite Earths|2019}}'' event, fans spotted Tom Ellis in the Vancouver area, leading to instant speculation that Lucifer would be part of the crossover. Ellis announced he had simply been visiting a friend on set to shoot the rumors down. Sure enough, Lucifer did pop in Episode Three for a brief cameo.

* OutOfOrder: "Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith", "Vegas With Some Radish", "Off the Record" and "City of Angels?" were originally meant to be season 2 episodes but they were moved to season 3. Likewise, two standalone episodes were produced at the end of season 3 with the intention of showing them in season 4, but FOX cancelled the series and later announced they would be airing the two episodes a couple of weeks later (this was of course well over a month before Netflix ultimately resurrected the show). The two episodes ended up being somewhat disconnected from the ones before and after them; one is a WhatIf episode, while the other is set in a weird timeline where [[spoiler:Chloe seems to take Lucifer's revelation of his devil face lightly, compared to her near-HeroicBSOD in the actual Season 4; however, it has been [[CanonWelding canon-welded]] as of "A Chance at a Happy Ending," which means that the events of the episode happened before the S4 finale and Chloe's nonchalance is about something other than Lucifer's devil face]].

* PlayingTheirOwnTwin: Season 5 introduces Lucifer's twin brother [[ArchangelMichael Michael]] who is played Tom Ellis with a FakeAmerican accent.

* RealLifeRelative: In "My Little Monkey" Chloe's father is played by Chris Payne Gilbert who is married to Creator/LesleyAnnBrandt in real life.

*** According to Creator/LindseyGort (who plays Candy), after her SpitTake in "Vegas With Some Radish" Ellis addlibed "ah, so you're a squirter". Unfortunately, it didn't make into the episode.
** Michael's hunched shoulder came about because Tom Ellis wanted to have some kind of body language that would emphasise the difference between Lucifer and his brother other than their accents, since they wouldn't have time between shots for things like prosthetics; [[https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/lucifer-season-5-made-tom-ellis-feel-like-a-fraud he, Sherwin Shilati and Ildy Modrovich developed the idea of Michael's right wing also being damaged, and wrote a reason for it into the second half of Season 5.]]

** Lucifer was going to have an American accent, until they decided only a Brit could get away with saying a lot of his lines without coming off as a total douche. And the appearance of Michael in Season 5 fully proves that point.
** On the flipside, Lesley-Ann Brandt admitted that she wanted to portray Maze with a British accent (likely to match with Ellis), but was told to speak with an American accent instead. Both, by the way, are not her natural accent, which is South African (she is also fluent in New Zealand English by virtue of growing up there since she was a teen).
** All of Season 5 except the final episode was made with the assumption it would be the end of the show. When they got a surprise pickup for one more season, what was meant to be just the finale's epilogue was expanded into an entire season, with the final act simply chopped off (noticeably leaving it the only episode in the season that's not a full hour long).
** [[https://www.cbr.com/lucifer-boss-details-a-celestial-season-5-deleted-scene/ Among the bits deleted]] from the season 5 finale was Ella showing Charlie with small wings and revealing she'd always secretly suspected just what was really going on.

*** D. B. Woodside plays Melvin the Magnificent, a cultist leader.

* TheOtherMarty: In the unaired pilot, Dan was played by Nicholas Gonzalez, before being replaced with Kevin Alejandro.

* PlayingWithCharacterType: In Season 6, Merrin Dunghey appears to have an unusual role as a hardass cop, but she then turns out to be more like her usual friendly characters doing a SecretTestOfCharacter.
