• Underage Casting: Arthur Hill, who plays Charles' father Lansford, was only 14 years Michael Landon's senior. Then again, he also plays Lansford in a flashback from when Charles is a child.
• You Look Familiar: Matthew Laborteaux, who plays young Charles during a flashback sequence in part 1, would reprise said role in season 4's "I Remember, I Remember", but would ultimately become more well-known when he joined the regular cast in season 5 as Albert, the orphan whom Charles brings back from the Ingalls' brief stay in Winoka, and later adopts.
