Trivia / Linwood Barclay

Go To

  • Breakthrough Hit: No Time for Goodbye. Barclay already had four thrillers under his belt when this one was published in 2007. Unlike them, it became a best-seller. In the UK, where Barclay had previously been unheard-of, this was in no small part thanks to it being picked up by the Richard and Judy Book Club, which is basically the British equivalent of Oprah's Book Club and has a similar (ie. very positive) effect on the sales of the books covered.
  • Colbert Bump: As stated above, being recommended by the Richard and Judy Book Club did wonders for the sales of No Time for Goodbye in the UK, a country where no-one had previously heard of Linwood Barclay.
  • Sequel Gap: The Archers, the family at the centre of No Time for Goodbye, return in No Safe House which was published seven years later. Seven years have passed in their lives too.
