Trivia / Landry Series

  • Creator's Favorite Episode: Or rather "Creator's Favorite Series"; Andrew Neiderman said in a Q&A that the Landry series was his favorite under the V.C. Andrews name.
  • Development Hell: Various attempts have been made to get the series adapted into a TV series: first by CBS (who had also bought the rights to the Cutler series) in the mid-90s as a four hour miniseries, which was canceled after the executive who wanted it was no longer apart of the network. CBS tried again in 2002, which quickly went nowhere. Lifetime then started development for a miniseries under the title The Landry in 2007, but the writer strike disrupted those plans and the possibility of moving to another station came up due to money issues with the Lifetime before it was abandoned. In 2013, it was announced that the project was going on again, and development started in 2014, with rumors of Warner Bros. Television involved, but that, too, sputtered. As of 2019, ghostwriter Neiderman dropped hints of a "long-awaited" project from Lifetime "that should make fans very happy," leading people to suspect that the Landry adaptation might be back on track. Suspicions were confirmed in January 2020 when Lifetime announced that a Landry miniseries would be released in mid-August of that year...only to be delayed again by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The series finally was scheduled to premiere in spring of 2021, minus Tarnished Gold, which could not be completed due to said pandemic. Apparently after so long, the network decided it was better to release the four completed movies rather than hope that the entire series could be finished. Because of this, it's uncertain when or if Tarnished Gold will ever be made.
