• Development Hell: The DLC expansion was expected to be released within 2019. As of the start of 2022, there is still no sign of when it will be finished. The last official news on the expansion was in March of 2021, where askiisoft stated the scale of the expansion had grown significantly and was taking longer than expected. There has since been another update in September 2022 showing off the first public gameplay footage of the DLC, still with no stated release date (aside from "later").
• Dueling Games:
  • Katana ZERO released at about the same time as God's Trigger, another game that was highly inspired by Hotline Miami. However, whereas Katana ZERO places high focus on the storytelling and is viewed from a side-view perspective, God's Trigger retains the overhead perspective of its forebear, and places far more focus on the co-op side of things, with the choice of two distinct protagonists with a range of different supernatural abilities.
  • When taking a wider view, both games are also in a duel with The Hong Kong Massacre - another 2019 game with Hotline Miami inspirations that was released a couple of months before the two.
• Dummied Out: As noted in Gorn on the Main page, the scene where V slowly tortures a noisy apartment neighbor before killing him is immediately cut before it can be shown. However, there is a full sprite sheet of that torture, showcasing the animation in a disturbing and graphic detail. This can be seen here.
• Word of God:
  • The Final Boss's name is "The Headhunter", and she is not the therapist's daughter.
  • On the other side of the coin, as many suspected, the fight with the Psychiatrist is indeed a Battle in the Center of the Mind rather than a proper fight.
