Go To

  • Acting for Two: Joker and Grundy's interactions, as Mark Hamill was cast as the latter in addition to returning to reprise the former.
  • The Original Darrin: In the French dub, the Joker is voiced by Pierre Hatet. He previously voiced that same character in Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, and Superman: The Animated Series, only to be replaced by Daniel Lafourcade in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker prior to Justice League.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: The decision to end the DCAU Lex Luthor's portrayal as a corrupt CEO and bring him back to his super-villain/mad scientist roots in the comics. As Bruce Timm's explained:
Timm: One of the things we talked about doing from early on was taking Luthor out of the corporate boardroom and putting him back in the mad scientist outfit; bringing him back to his old-school Luthor when he was the crazed renegade scientist. In the comics he was always the supervillain. We had done a lot of stories of Luthor as the corporate evil tycoon—and that’s all well and good—but we did it for a number of years on Superman. Now it was time to change up, especially versus the Justice League, who are these brightly-colored, larger-than-life individuals.
  • Out of Order: This episode aired later in the season than intended, after "Legends" where Luthor has a non-speaking cameo reflecting his new criminal mad scientist role this episode introduced.
  • Role Reprise: Clancy Brown returns to voice Lex for the first time since the conclusion of Superman: The Animated Series. Mark Hamill likewise returns to voice the Joker for the first time since Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.
