• Acting for Two: Played for laughs in one episode where Guy surprised the judges by having them cook in the final round. When Guy "introduces" the judges, it is him in all three seats.
• In Memoriam:
  • The September 25, 2019 episode was dedicated to Carl Ruiz, a popular contestant and judge on the show, who had died four days previously.
  • The March 25, 2020 “April Fools’ Day” episode was a tribute to Carl Ruiz - the judges and chefs were six of Carl’s good friends among the Flavortown judges, other friends and family of Carl’s showed up, the games were ones that Carl disliked (like the Spicy challenge and blindfolded shopping), and clips and memories of Carl were shown and discussed throughout the episode.
  • Both Guy and his sons can be seen wearing t-shirts honoring Carl during the rewatch episodes and the 25th "Delivery" season.
  • March 31, 2021 was another "April Fools' Day" episode, also dedicated to Carl. Guy commented during the episode that turning the April Fools episode into a Carl Ruiz memorial would continue as long as the show does — Carl always enjoyed a good prank.
