Trivia / Ground Floor

  • Actor Allusion: A sick Mansfield refuses to go to the hospital because:
  • Cast the Expert: When you realize that they would need someone who can sing flawlessly to play Heather, or else the "pitchy" gag wouldn't work. Out of all the 25-to-35-year-old actresses that wanted to play the part, were known to the target audience, and can sing really well, they picked Anna Camp.
  • Corpsing: In "The Mansfield Who Came to Dinner", John C. McGinley improvised pulling Skylar Astin and Briga Heelan close to his side and giving them each a peck on the cheek. Astin managed to play the moment in character while Heelan struggled not to crack up and had to cover her mouth to save the take.
  • Descended Creator: Rene Gube plays Threepeat and is also a writer and the show's story editor.
  • Irony as She Is Cast: Jenny doesn't like musicals but is played by Briga Heelan who has a background in musical theatrenote .
  • Production Posse: Several of the cast have been involved in other Bill Lawrence-produced shows.
    • An unusual example with Briga Heelan. She was cast in both Undateable and Ground Floor when they were in pre-production but chose to stick with Ground Floor while her role in Undateable was recast. Then production hiccups led to Undateable being delayed and the producing teams of the two shows both wanted Heelan badly enough that they worked out a scheduling agreement that allowed her to return to Undateable and take on the role of Nicki on a recurring basis. Both of these shows are executive produced by Bill Lawrence.
    • Then, of course, there's John C. McGinley, who famously starred as Dr. Cox on Scrubs and now stars as Mr. Mansfield on Ground Floor.
    • Rory Scovel made an appearance on Undateable as an annoying neighbor the gang goes to war against.
    • Brent Morin had a two episode arc on Ground Floor as Mr. Mansfield's rival who poaches a good number of Remington Trust's employees.
  • Romance on the Set: Briga Heelan and Rene Gube got engaged during the show's run and married not long after its cancellation, making Threepeat's jealousy over Brody and Jenny's relationship all the more funny.
  • Screwed by the Network: Despite pulling in solid ratings and also improving week to week, the show (along with the rest of TBS's original programming) was canceled by TBS because the network wanted a clean slate for the 2015-2016 season.
