• Dawson Casting: Jonathan Graves, who's supposed to be in his early-mid 20's, was played by then 34-year old Peter Liapis. Michael Des Barres, who plays his father, is only a year older than he is.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Stan Winston was initially attached to do the effects.
  • The film originally began planning as Beasties, and was meant to be a more family-friendly film where the Ghoulies would help a little girl. Charles Band couldn't get any investors interested in the project however, which led to his acquirement of a later script titled Ghoulies.
