Trivia / Game of Thrones S2E3 "What Is Dead May Never Die"

Go To

  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: The dinner scene between Cersei and her children was created specifically to remind the audience who Myrcella is—since her marriage prospects get discussed in the episode.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original script for the episode ran three hours. Among scenes that were cut include a drawn-out fight between Jon and Craster, that was replaced with the shot of Craster dragging Jon back to his keep.
    • The final scene with the children originally followed the books—where Arya, Gendry, Hot Pie and Lommy first flee and then get captured. But the limited times they would have the child actors for led to it being more condensed.
    • The fight between Loras and Brienne had to be re-filmed after winds from Hurricane Katia disrupted the set.
    • Theon burning the letter to Robb was a much longer scene as well—he would write the letter, go to a rookery and nearly give it to a maester before reconsidering. Word of God is that it "never worked," so they went with the much simpler scene of Theon burning the letter.
