Trivia / Froggy Fresh

  • Amateur Cast: Much of the cast of the music videos is comprised of Tyler Cassidy's real-life friends and family, which is par for the course for a lot of YouTube content. Most of the videos were filmed during the summer, presumably when the people featured in the videos weren't busy with school. Money Maker Mike is portrayed by a friend of Cassidy's younger brother (who serves as the cameraman for the videos), and was 15 at the time The Baddest was filmed. Word of God from Mike's Reddit AMA states that James is also played by a friend of his and Cassidy's from when they were younger.
  • Dawson Casting: While Froggy Fresh is usually depicted as being school-aged, Tyler Cassidy was 22 years old when the first video was filmed. Played with, as the character of Froggy Fresh is depicted with a Vague Age and some songs have him referring to himself as a grown man, though others have him referring to himself as a kid. Wholly averted with Money Maker Mike in his earlier appearances, as he was 15 during the filming of The Baddest.
  • No Budget: Averted. Despite the homespun style the videos have and the cast and locations being entirely comprised of his friends and various locations near where he lived, Cassidy has stated he actually put a lot of money into the production of the music videos. This can be seen by the increased usage of different costumes and props as the channel grew, as well as the improvements to the cinematography. Some props were even commissioned and custom-made specifically for the videos, such as the titular footwear in Good Guy Shoes.
  • Recycled Set: The house used in Dunked On, which is stated to belong to Froggy's friend Kevin, is reused in later videos as Froggy Fresh's own home. Explained in-universe in the intro to Halloween II, where it's stated that Froggy's parents bought Kevin's house and moved in there to help Froggy get over his trauma from the first Halloween.
  • Renamed to Avoid Association: The titular rapper was originally known as Krispy Kreme, but changed his name to "Froggy Fresh" after a legal threat from the donut company he took his namesake from. All previous songs under the "Krispy Kreme" name had their lines rerecorded to update them, and the music videos for said songs put a black bar over the speaker's mouth when the original name is said in the footage.
