Trivia / El Deafo

• Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: In the miniseries, Cece is voiced by a deaf actor, Lexi Finigan.
• Real-Life Relative: In the miniseries, Laura and Ginny are played by sisters Cassie and Sabrina Glow (Which becomes a Casting Gag since Ginny tells Laura off at one point).
• Word of St. Paul: When the real Martha Chadwick appeared in Cece Bell's The In Depth Story of El Deafo episode for Chapter 12, she remembers the "Fateful Eye Incident" and its fallout a little differently from how Cece depicted the events in the book. Not only did the real Cece first appear at Martha's door with white gauze over her eye (which reminded her of M*A*S*H) rather than the pirate eyepatch, but the conversation where Cece makes it clear that her needing glasses had nothing to do with the incident didn't actually happen until the women were in their 30s. Validated by Word of God.
