Trivia / Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur

Go To

  • Accidentally Correct Zoology:
    • The 2006 remake redesigned the Ornithomimus with feathers, down to having wings for display. In 2012, Ornithomimus was discovered to have knobs on its arms for feather attachment much like Velociraptor does, confirming that the dinosaur did have wings like the ostriches it resembled.
    • The 2006 remake also changes the original film's Pteranodon in the Aerial Canyon Chase to Quetzalcoatlus, due to the latter being much bigger. A couple years later, it would turn out Quetzalcoatlus and its fellow azhdarchids were predators of small animals (albeit hunting on the ground rather than in the air as in the film), and the main cast would be the right size to be prey for the Quetzalcoatlus.
    • Also in the 2006 remake, Suneo mistakes the sauropods for Diplodocus, only to realize they are Alamosaurus in that they are much bigger. Five years later, it would turn out Alamosaurus rivaled Argentinosaurus in size and was the biggest dinosaur to ever roam North America.
    • And also in the 2006 remake, a Pteranodon was shown diving into the water for fish much like a gannet. It is now known Pteranodon and other sea-faring pterosaurs would have hunted this way and even swam.
  • Science Marches On: The 2006 remake incorporated many of the new paleontological discoveries and remedied several outdated aspects of the original film (particularly dinosaurs being active and agile bird-like animals, with the ornithomimids having feathers). Of course, the remake itself is now outdated by today's standards (especially by the likes of the film's Spinosaurus, Alamosaurus, and Quetzalcoatlus).
