Go To

  • Distanced from Current Events: The plot originally involved the Daleks attacking the real 1966 World Cup, but then Alan Barnes learned that the World Cup final would be airing on the same week as part one’s release, so he changed it to a virtual World Cup.
  • Inspiration for the Work: Alan Barnes was inspired by a write-up of Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. which pointed out how it was set in the future to avoid becoming an Unintentional Period Piece.
  • Troubled Production: Originally planned for 13 parts, a 14th was hurriedly added after the team were informed of the Children in Need special.
  • What Could Have Been: The Dalek Dome was originally known as “The Dalek Experience”, as a play on the Doctor Who Experience.
  • Working Title: Was at various points known as “Enclave of the Daleks, The Dalek Zone, Enslavement of the Daleks, Daleks in Chains, Daleks Unchained and Visitation of the Daleks”.
  • Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Every instalment was written individually due to a mixture of the length of the story and the relatively short development time.
