Trivia / Doctor Who 1985 JFIGS "A Fix With Sontarans"

Go To

  • Banned Episode: The episode was once offered on DVDs containing "The Two Doctors". When the DVD was re-released in 2014, the skit was pulled in light of revelations against Jimmy Savile. A George Lucas Altered Version of this mini-episode was released on the Season 22 Blu-Ray box set, replacing Savile's fourth wall-breaking scene with a completely in-universe Bolivian Army Ending of a CGI fleet of Sontaran ships and a newly recorded line of dialogue from Colin Baker about how this is "only the beginning". The original Savile cut, meanwhile, remains out of the public eye.
  • Hostility on the Set: Though he couldn't be aware that Savile was the quintessential Depraved Kids' Show Host, Baker didn't have to know to greatly dislike working with him:
I didn't warm to him. His demeanour was neither friendly, nor inclusive. He behaved much as one might expect a child to behave who had been indulged and led to believe that life revolved around them. There was certainly none of the professional respect that one would expect to be shared when two programmes combine for a special purpose. Even though we were on the TARDIS set, it was very much his territory and his agenda.
  • Make-A-Wish Contribution: Considering it is a Crossover with Savile's Jim'll Fix It, a show where wishes of children were fulfilled, this is expected. This was done on the basis of Gareth Jenkins' wish to "go inside the TARDIS".
  • Real Life Writes the Hairstyle: Since leaving the show, Janet Fielding grew her hair longer and bleached it blonde.
  • What Could Have Been: The reason Tegan is in this special instead of Peri is that Nicola Bryant was on holiday at the time.
