Trivia / Densetsu no Stafy

  • Fan Translation: As detailed on the main trivia page, there are two still in-progress fan translations of the game, one by Torchickens and the other by MiYaku Gaming.
  • Moved to the Next Console: The game was originally a Game Boy title before being released as a Game Boy Advance title.
  • Saved from Development Hell: The game started development as a Game Boy game in November 1995 as a "floaty platformer". An initial concept was pushing a balloon-like character through a maze, though that proved to be too annoying to control. It wasn't until three years later in 1998 that the concept of a water-based character finally started to develop, and the game was moved to release for the Game Boy Color instead. As the game was nearing completion in 1999, the release of the Game Boy Advance canceled projects for the Game Boy Color, forcing the project to be scrapped and remade for the new console. After yet another reworking of the game, it was finally released for the GBA in 2002.
  • What Could Have Been: It would have been one of two The Legendary Starfy games, alongside the second one, to have a Chinese translation on the iQue Game Boy Advance, but it was cancelled due to high piracy of the Game Boy Advance games. The Chinese title would have been 斯塔非的传说.
