• Approval of God: John Romero didn't work on any of the sequels after the second game, but Romero Games' 2021 compilation rerelease includes all nine installments, so if nothing else, he doesn't mind that they exist.
• B-Team Sequel: Softdisk retained the rights to the series after the second game’s crew left to found Id Software, so the company produced several later games without their involvement.
