• Killed by Request: Roman Wilhelmi apparently found the character bland, so once the Written-In Infirmity plot about the crew ending up in the hospital came up, he asked to become a fatality instead.
• Screwed by the Network: The series hit a wall in 2006, when the then current government declared it's unsuitable for public TV to still broadcast a pro-Russian propaganda, putting a pressure on politically-appointed head executive of TVP and generally making a lot of fuss about how evil the series is for "falsifying history". After a while, it was put back on another channel, with a historian doing a short talk to explain the inaccuracies in given episode and why they were put by the communist regime into the script.
• Written-In Infirmity: Janek's casts in the episode Most ("The Bridge") were not makeup. Janek's actor, Janusz Gajos, had been run over by a truck while napping on set. The injuries to his spine and pelvis confined him to bed, prompting the creators to write an episode in which Rudy is damaged by a landmine and the whole crew end up in hospital except Olgierd, who dies in the incident.
