• Real-Life Relative: Joseph Vilsmaier cast his wife Dana Vávrová as Ursula Bootz. He cast her in a number of his films, including Stalingrad and Brother of Sleep.
• Those Two Actors: Heino Ferch and Ulrich Noethen would later appear together in Downfall. Ironically, after playing two Jews who are forced to flee Germany in this film, in Downfall, they would play leading Nazi figures Albert Speer and Heinrich Himmler, respectively.
