- Approval of God: Kathy Bates, who won an Academy Award for playing Annie Wilkes in Misery, tweeted her support for Lizzy Caplan's portrayal of Annie: "Lizzy Caplan hits it out of the park. She IS Annie Wilkes. Terrifying and human. Sometimes she makes me feel all oogie!".
- Lying Creator: For Season 2, the show runners made it clear that they would focus on an entirely different set of characters. This was mostly true apart from the fact that The Kid returned (albeit in a much reduced capacity and with no lines). Warden Lacy's widow Martha also made a brief return before being killed and possessed by a cult member.
- The Other Marty: Garrett Hedlund filmed a few scenes as Ace Merrill in Season 2, before the show runners decided he wasn’t working and replaced him with Paul Sparks.
- Real-Life Relative: Ruth's younger self is played by Sissy Spacek's daughter, Schuyler Fisk.
- Separated-at-Birth Casting: Melanie Lynskey and Allison Tolman, who plays Molly's sister, could probably pass for relatives in real life.
- Lizzy Caplan and Ruby Cruz, who plays teenaged Annie Wilkes in Season 2, could also pass for biological siblings.
