- Alan Smithee: Writer Alan Moore's name was removed from covers, introductions and collection credits on later reprints (it's still visible in the hand-lettered in-story credits). Which doesn’t stop the back cover of the Panini-published omnibus hailing "a writer whose legend is so huge, we are unworthy to mention his earthly name".
- Executive Meddling: One early Dave Thorpe story had Captain Britain, in full costume, visiting Northern Ireland. The art and dialogue was hastily amended to replace it with a generic English town and remove any reference to its original setting. This also meant that Alan Davis had to hastily provide a fill-in story.
- Life Imitates Art: The first issue of the storyline, published in September 1981, ends with Captain Britain seeing a poster for a fascistic "British National Party" and realising he's in an alternate world. A real far-right British National Party (BNP) was founded in April 1982 and has been part of British politics ever since.
