* DoingItForTheArt: All of the deliberate and accidental aspects of Blaxploitation was faithfully recreated for this film. They even used the same low-quality film stock in order to best recreate the poor image quality of the genre's original films.

* AwesomeDearBoy: Arsenio Hall agreed to a cameo when he saw the script had a character called [[CrazyAwesome "Captain Kangaroo Pimp."]]

* AcclaimedFlop: Despite rave reviews and even winning the Golden Space Needle Award at the Seattle International Film Festival, it only made just short of $300,000 and closed after two weeks. Luckily the film did very well on DVD and cable.

* ThrowItIn: Deliberately parodying the tendency of {{Blaxploitation}} films to do this. An example includes a {{Mook}} whose car door gets stuck on a curb, and later another Mook forgets to put the brakes on his car while getting out to shoot. In the [[DVDBonusContent DVD extras]], they explain that the latter was an ''actual'' error, not an intentional "error". Naturally, they kept it in.

* HeyItsThatGuy: A plethora, including [[{{Series/Reno911}} Cedric Yarbrough]] as Chocolate Giddy-Up and Creator/NicoleSullivan (from the original cast of ''Series/{{MADtv}}'') as Pat Nixon.
