- Inspiration for the Work: The scene of Chuck tearing out all his walls trying to find a source of electricity was inspired by the ending of The Conversation, in which main character Harry Caul destroys his own apartment in an attempt to find a listening device. Michael McKean based his performance in that scene on Ray Bradbury's short story "The Fruit at the Bottom of the Bowl".
- No Stunt Double: 69-year-old Michael McKean spent four days tearing the set apart for the scenes where Chuck rips the wiring out of his house's walls, a very demanding series of stunts for a man of his age.
- Separated-at-Birth Casting: The actor playing young Chuck resembles Michael McKean a lot and nails his voice.
