• The Cast Showoff: Ed Begley Jr. and Michael McKean were both Spinal Tap alum and both play musical pieces in their scenes: Chuck plays the piano in the opening and is temporarily interrupted by Howard dropping by, while Clifford plays guitar as a stress reliever.
• Defictionalization: Mark Proksch actually did the fake squat cobbler video that Saul had to produce, HSC: Beaches n' Peaches, in-character for the Season 2 DVD. He does indeed start crying towards the end — partially because he's portraying Daniel play-acting as the lifeguard, partially because Daniel the character finds it humiliating and upsetting, and partially because Mark is trying to hide himself cracking up.
