  • The author had originally considered having the Doctor and Rose not take Martha along as a companion in Time is Still a-Flying, but reconsidered upon factoring in that the "Human Nature" two-parter needed a third person there if the Doctor and Rose were both going to be fobbed, and the same for the Master arc, where the Doctor needed someone walking the Earth spreading stories of him.
