Trivia / Becoming the Mask (Trollhunters)

• Outdated by Canon: The First Battle of Killahead Bridge is established several times in-story as being “just over 400 years ago”, in the mid-to-late 1500s. When the sequel-series Wizards was released, the First Battle of Killahead Bridge was revealed to have taken place in the late 1100s, 900 years prior to the main timeline.
• What Might Have Been: The author considered having Jim's original troll identity be Draal, kidnapped as a baby by the Gumm-Gumms and made a Changeling as part of the alternate timeline, because it would play on Jim/Draal's protectiveness of Jay-Jay (Jim from canon) and be ironic that this version of Draal was chosen as the Trollhunter but didn't want the job. The idea was scrapped because the author would've wanted to save The Reveal as a twist later in the story and felt this couldn't be pulled off when the audience would immediately notice and question Draal's absence from Trollmarket; because Draal and Jim have such different personalities and Changeling Jim draws largely from Canon Jim in personality; and because the writer wanted to include Jim and Draal's dynamic in the story.
