Trivia / Alice Glass

Go To

  • Creator Couple: With Jupiter Keyes, a guitarist and producer formerly of the band HEALTH, who toured with Crystal Castles when they first got started. He has produced the majority of her music so far.
  • Creator Recovery:
    • While her solo work isn't much lighter in tone than her previous music, she has spoken about how making music with Keyes is a much more positive experience for her, and that she wasn't used to being in a studio and not being constantly degraded and belittled by her former bandmate.
    • Performing has also become less injurious for her. During the Crystal Castles era, her performances would often get violent, and she would perform even when sick or injured (such as when she famously performed on a broken ankle and crutches in 2011). She alleges that this was because her bandmate often pressured her not to cancel shows, and she was too dedicated to performing to take breaks, which exacerbated the injuries.
  • Dye Hard: Has sported a number of hair colors over the years, from bleach blonde to her iconic jet black. Her natural color is light brown/dirty blonde.
  • Referenced by...:
    • Rapper Destroy Lonely has a song called "CRYSTLCSTLES" a reference to Crystal Castles, which contains the lyric, "Rockstar bitch, I call her Alice Glass."
    • Laura Les of 100 gecs cited Alice Glass as an inspiration for her solo track "Haunted."
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: A cover of Aqua's "Barbie Girl" produced by Adore was teased for a while, but ultimately never came out. It's speculated (but not confirmed) but they may not have been able to release it due to Glass making some lyrical changes in her cover. A leaked version is available online.
  • She Also Did: Has a cameo in the comedy film King Knight, voicing a talking rock. It's a fitting cameo since the film's soundtrack is made up entirely of witch house and its name is an reference to the album King Night by SALEM, and Alice Glass was a pioneer of the genre.
