- Executive Meddling: In some pre-release copies of the game, the Yamato campaign ended with the Japanese fighting against Silla Korea and Tang China in the 7th century, which historically resulted in the defeat of Japan and their Baekje Korean allies. However Microsoft expressed concerns that depicting a Japanese invasion of Korea would cause controversy and affect sales in South Korea. As such, the outline was simply changed to the Yamato fighting against the Japanese of Kyushu, although the map remained the same.
