- Defictionalization: The musical itself is an example. First there was a mockumentary about a "lost" Lovecraft musical, which included a few songs. They were popular enough that the HP Lovecraft Historical Society was encouraged to "rediscover" the rest of the songs and record a soundtrack album, and then to "rediscover" the libretto.
- Screwed by the Lawyers: The music is almost completely identical to the score for Fiddler on the Roof, and the rights holders for Fiddler have sued every attempt at a for-profit production of the play.
