• Ripped from the Headlines:
  • The chapter in which Mayor Coppersmith (in the wake of Jaune’s detainment by Vale) faces a no-confidence vote came out the same week that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was also facing such a prospect. In both scenarios the figure attempts to stonewall the efforts, and both men had a noted advisor turn on them.
  • The next chapter references the takedown of a corrupt businessman whose name (Robby Kodik) is an undisguised Take That! to the CEO of Activision Blizzard… said chapter being published on the heels of Microsoft buying out the company, to boot.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Reportedly, Coeur meant for the scene in which Tanner attempts to blackmail Jaune into sex to play Double Standard Rape: Female on Male completely straight, not quite realizing what he was getting himself into by doing so. As he wrote it, he realized just how disgusting it was and played it for horror instead, resulting in Tanner becoming a Knight of Cerebus and the aftermath of the event going in a completely different direction.
  • Coeur revealed in an author's note that the original draft for the story featured Jaune accidentally killing Sienna and inheriting the White Fang from her (in a logical continuation of the slapstick death of Adam at the beginning) but he ultimately decided against it because that would drag the Mistral and Menagerie settings into the mix far too early to do anything with them, meaning it would've been too boring.
• Write What You Know: The author has directly stated that he based the Vytal Fashion Show off his own experiences both holding interviews with models backstage, and later being invited to judge models for another show due to his status as a magazine editor.
