Timeline / Twitch Plays Pokémon

Go To

NOTE: This timeline is heavily outdated, and was considered mildly inaccurate at the time of creation. Take what you see here with a grain of salt.

Twitch Plays Pokémon's chronology is long, nigh-incomprehensible, contradictory at times, heavily subject to conflicting fan opinions and theories, and may or may not contain multiple divergent timelines. However, there are some pieces of evidence (or widely accepted fanon) that place at least some of the runs and key events in specific places in relation to each other, and this what is recorded here. As for everything else, well, that's up for discussion until the fan base reaches a general consensus.

Be warned that, despite attempting to make this page being an attempt to consolidate what is known for certain, it most likely contains high amounts of fan theory and opinion, due to TPP lore as a whole essentially being entirely made up of Ascended Fanon, and may, at the time of reading, no longer be correct.

Also note that this page in most likely incomplete, so additional lore information is encouraged to be added provided it is the general fan consensus, or is at least a popular opinion.

To clarify quickly, the current theorised arrangement of timelines is as follows:

   Unified
   Conquest
Changed Timeline(s) Central (pre-Bill) < > Bill's
< Red   FireRed
Red Ann. & Crystal Ann. Crystal   Platinum
Vietnamese Crystal Emerald   HeartGold
Touhoumon & Moemon Central (post-Bill)
AlphaSapphire Black
Colosseum Black 2
XD X
  OmegaRuby
Note: If someone can format this diagram in an easier to read way, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Unified Timeline

This timeline occurs in the past of both the Main Timeline and Bill's Timeline, as it contains events that predate where Bill's Timeline reset from.

    Conquest (Season 1 Exta)
To be added.

Central Timeline (pre-Bill)

This timeline covers the section of the Main Timeline of TPP (though not necessarily the entire main storyline), prior to the events of the Emerald run and the creation of Bill's Timeline.

    Red (Season 1, Run 1)
For a more detailed look at these events, click here.
  • At the age of 11, Red is possessed by the Voices, and sets out on his Pokémon journey.
  • Lord Helix is resurrected from his slumbering form in the Helix Fossil.
  • Red defeats Team Rocket.
  • With the aid of Lord Helix, AA-J, Bird Jesus, Air, King Fonz and ATV, Red defeats the Elite Four the Kanto region, and then ousts Blue from his position as Champion.
  • The Voices leave Red, searching for a new host.

As confirmed by canon Pokémon, 3 years pass between Red and Crystal. During this time:

  • Red and his team drop off the radar, seeking solitude on Mt. Silver.

    Crystal (Season 1, Run 2)
A trainer named AJ Downey is possessed by the Voices, and after a number of hardships starts to Rage Against the Heavens, seeking to defeat Red and the forces of Helix. He succeeds, but potentially at a grave cost to the world.

It is unclear of the passage of time after Crystal (one fan theory from the time cites it being 3000 years, whilst others say 300 years or otherwise), but since the TPP canon wasn't as complex at this point in time, it is likely that no other runs occur between Crystal and Emerald.

    Emerald (Season 1, Run 3)
"Girl A" sets off in the Hoenn Region, possessed by the Voices. There are only the slightest hints of instability at this time, characterized by time seeming to jump backwards on occasion. At the end, Bill attempts to reset the world.

Bill's Timeline

This timeline was created as a result of Bill's attempt to reset the world at the end of Emerald. It diverges from the Unified/Central Timeline prior to the events of Red, causing the events of FireRed instead. From a story perspective, many of these events occur after Emerald.

Fire Red (Season 1, Run 4)
Alice, Bill's daughter, sets off on a journey, the Voices again in tow. The world Bill has created is...strange, to say the least.

As confirmed by canon Pokémon, 3 years pass between Red and Crystal, which means 3 years pass between FireRed and HeartGold as well. It's unknown where in relation to these two Platinum falls, but all indications seem to suggest that it's not long before HeartGold.

    Platinum (Season 1, Run 5)
Sinnoh appears to be distant enough from the other regions to be unaffected by the randomizer, but Bill's influence continues to be felt as a boy from Twinleaf named Napoleon becomes the fifth person to be affected by the Voices. Furthermore, the world seems to begin to degrade, resulting in multiple disruptions in the flow of time. This is initially blamed on Cyrus mucking about in the Distortion World.

Heart Gold (Season 1, Run 6)
Bill's Timeline degrades further, as a werewolf girl named Aooo tries to restore the power of the Fossil Gods. An unknown entity appears taking the form of a shadowy version of Lord Helix. Bill is defeated once and for all, but gives a final warning: the battles between Dome and Helix have been causing cracks in the world, and something is trying to get in.

Central Timeline (post-Bill)

Following the defeat of Bill in his reset timeline in HeartGold, the original timeline restores itself. At least one theory states that the ORAS Demo occurs during this time, a few years after Emerald, but for the sake of simplicity, we won't go into that here.

    Black (Season 1, Run 7)
To be added.

As confirmed by canon Pokémon, 2 years pass between Black and Black 2.

    Black 2 (Season 1, Run 8)
To be added.

    X (Season 1, Run 9)
To be added.

Omega Ruby (Season 1, Run 10)
To be added.

Alternate Timeline

Season 2 takes place in an alternate timeline where Bill is not a villain. There seems to be some other malevolent force at work, but it was not identified until Season 3.

Anniversary Crystal (Season 3, Run 1) Prologue
A boy named Evan sets out from Pallet Town to fill the Pokédex and become the champion. Shortly after his quest begins, however, he goes missing after Team Rocket hijacks the S.S. Anne while he was on it, then manages to sink it. During this time, his mother moves to New Bark Town, in Johto.

Anniversary Red (Season 2, Run 1)
Abe, the new resident of Evan's old house, is possessed by the voices and sets off on a quest to complete the Pokédex. On his journey, he becomes the first to run into the distortion, currently centered around the Battle Tent in Celadon City.

Anniversary Crystal (Season 3, Run 1)
Three months after the completion of Abe's quest, Evan turns up alive in Cherrygrove City, having somehow managed to survive adrift in the ocean. He continues his quest and becomes the first to directly encounter the source of the distortion: OLDEN. After first experiencing its effects in Azalea Town, then battles it in the form of a female Trainer on Route 26 in Kanto. He loses the battle and apparently becomes possessed by OLDEN, continuing his journey with a far more sadistic, murderous bent.

    Vietnamese Crystal (Season 2 Intermissions)
Baba, a Pokémon that had been part of Abe's team for a time, becomes the first Pokémon to be turned into a human. She goes to Johto to become a trainer herself, but finds life as a human hard to understand. She returns to Kanto.

Moemon and Touhoumon (Season 2, Run 2)
Back in Kanto, more Pokémon are becoming humans, but not to the degree that Baba did. Baba joins an aspiring trainer named Athena, but is out of practice performing as a Pokémon and Athena attempts to put her in the Daycare. However, the distortion that Abe encountered in Celadon City has moved northeast, and a resonance event occurs that links her with a trainer named Amber in another world whose journey began at the same time, resulting in a number of glitched copies of Amber's starter appearing in Athena's party while a part of the soul of one of Athena's prized Pokémon ended up in Amber's world and became one of her top Bonéka.

Alpha Sapphire (Season 2, Run 3)
In Hoenn, the distortion is worse than it ever was in Kanto. The blows struck against the PC by the Leech King and by Baba pulling the power supply continue to resonate as Pokémon released by the Voices' newest host are repeatedly found to have survived the experience. One of these Pokémon is also suspected to be originally captured by Napoleon, suggesting that the Distortion World may be related...or that Bill's final warning was referring to OLDEN.

    Colosseum (Season 2, Run 4)
To be added.

    XD (Season 2, Run 5)
To be added.
