Despite having good amount of funny moments, Wake Up Deadman is overall sad and depressing manhwa, with setting that can surely bring tear to your eye.
- Sahu's death. Just as he was about to confess to Ju-Hyeo after many failed attempts, he had to perform Heroic Sacrifice to save Ju-Hyeo from being hit by coming truck. As he dies from the wounds, in his mind he comments on Ju-Hyeo crying and how me messed up another chance to confess to her.
- Hogan-Ajeossi sacrifice to stop the German Pincher from killing Sahu and Skull. Doubles as it's revealed that he failed to kill him and only died himself. However it's later revealed that he survived as he was saved by doctor who patched him up.
- The reveal of why he was so eager to see the sea for the last time. He had daughter named ''Bada" (Means sea in Korean), her fate is not revealed but it's implied that she died before or around the time he turned into a zombie.
- Skull's backstory. After he turned into a zombie, he returned home, hoping that despite everything that happened he'd still be able to live similarly to his former life. But unfortunately for him his friend betrayed him to police, not out of hate but out of fear of being punished by police for hiding a zombie.
- After that, realizing that he'll never be able to return to his former life, he went to see his girlfriend Mira for one last time before departing.
- However, when he got to her house he found out that she has found happiness with another man. It caused him to cross the Despair Event Horizon and kill her out of anger.
- That is the reason he chose to accompany Sahu on his journey, because Sahu reminds him of himself in his younger days, and he doesn't want to Sahu to feel the same pain of loss he felt nor he wants him to commit the sins he committed.
- On his journey Sahu encounters a young girl named Ju-Hyeon. The girl is revealed to have a terminal brain tumor and unwilling to suffer more she tried to kill herself before Sahu stopped her.
- Later as Sahu is forced to abandon her so he can board on a train to city. She begs him not to leave, and to stay and make her remaining time more peaceful. Unfortunately for her, he still leaves.
- Sahu losing first his fingers and later an entire arm, making him unable of playing guitar properly ever again.
