Tear Jerker / Valkyrie Drive -Bhikkhuni-

Go To

  • Is pretty hard to see the horrible way Momo dismiss each and every attempt of Mana to get close to her. No wonder the poor girl went off the rails like that.
    • Things get inverted later, when Mana decides to accept Viola's offer to be her temporary partner so she can live in the elite sector to fulfill her goals. This meant essentially abandoning Momo. Momo plays it off as nothing, but by the sound of her voice, she's clearly hurt that Mana gave up on her at that moment. The poor girl is already suffering enough from amnesia. In fact, the only things she does remember is the smell of gunpowder and scorched, lifeless bodies.
  • The whole sexual harassment in the dressing room can count as this. Not only do the girls clearly hate the touching, but they even start tearing up during it.
    • One of the worst might be Ranka. For the most part, she'll yell at you to stop and call you disgusting, but sometimes she calls weakly for her sister to save her. It's not easy to keep going after that.
    • It can quickly cross the line right back to silly when you realize that 1. you don't have to wait in between reactions from the girls to touch them again and 2. touching their face works just fine. Between these two tidbits, the most economical way of getting their ratings up quickly is to rapid-fire poke the poor girls in the forehead, at which point it becomes kind of silly.
  • Even though Mana had it coming, is still pretty sad to see Koharu crush all of her dreams in the Chaos route by revealing she was nothing more than pawn for the Director. Yumi Hara's acting really sells the moment when Mana snaps and lashes out at Koharu.
  • Given how peppy and energetic Ranka is through most of the story, it hits pretty hard to see her reduced to an indecisive mess in the Chaos Route, torn between the love for her sister and the resentment she feels towards her parents over what she believes was a betrayal on their part.
    • It gets worse in the penultimate stage of the route. With no more options left she decides to fight Rinka to stop once and for all her attempts of liberating the island and avoid the risk of Gundari killing her in combat. Ranka thoroughly beats Rinka, but she doesn't enjoy the victory at all and is having an emotional breakdown while pummeling her sister to the ground.
  • Bhikkhuni's secret and true role of the Pillar Gods are a prime example of this. Bhikkhuni was invaded by AAA (the same group that dispatched Momoka's team to Mermaid in the anime) and caused a massacre, forcing the strongest Valkyries of each generation to undergo a series of modifications to become the Pillar Gods so they could have means to defend themselves against AAA.
  • The Massacre mentioned earlier? It was AAA bid to get Echigoya whom had some undisclosed but very valuable skill. Valuable enough for AAA to abandon any subtlety and invade Bhikkhuni for the sole purpose of capturing her. Echigoya's partner fought bravely against them but was ultimately defeated and Echigoya went through such horrific experiments that Echigoya herself doesn't even know if she's still human or just a machine.
  • Gundari might be the Big Bad of the game but you can hardly blame her by her approach after all the stuff she went through: she was Echigoya's partner but couldn't stop AAA from taking her and only got the rest of the First Graduating Class killed. Burdened with this knowledge, she willingly went under a likely horrific procedure to become the first and most powerful of the Pillar Gods simply so she could ensure the tragedy wouldn't repeat itself.
