"In Loving Memory, Shelly Marsh."

  • Stan remembering what the beginning of the pandemic was like for him. The boys were in the midst of planning a scheme to get themselves tickets to a Denver Nuggets game, only for Mrs. Nelson to announce that school would be shutting down temporarily until the COVID-19 virus passed and they would reopen in two weeks.
  • Sharon's emotional breakdown at Shelly's funeral, especially knowing that she committed suicide soon after. She lost her daughter in a completely preventable tragedy and she doesn't even get to say one last goodbye because it was a closed casket funeral.
  • Butters turning into an insane NFT scammer thanks to his parents abandoning him. He doesn't even recognize Stan and Kyle when they visit him at the asylum. It's even implied he’s staying in the Victor Chaos persona because otherwise he'd have to come to terms with the fact that his parents abandoned him.
    • Fans tried to give Stephen and Linda the benefit of a doubt by speculating on if something happened to them while they were gone, but nope, you can see them at Shady Acres in Post Covid.
  • While the scene is Played for Laughs, it's sad to see Ike, who was coming home to visit Kyle and their parents for the holidays, stuck at the airport because the military isn't letting anyone fly into South Park.
  • Stan and Kyle telling their younger selves that if they don't forgive each other and remain friends, they'll "lose everything" and "regret it for the rest of their lives." At this point, the mission is still ostensibly about saving Kenny and stopping COVID, but in that moment it was Stan and Kyle admitting how they've both been miserable without each other's friendship, and their priority was preventing that.
  • Cartman's fate at the end is such a massive one for fans who've become attached to Future Good Cartman that his fate through time travel is tragic beyond words. After it's shown that Cartman had indeed become a better person in the bad future, Cartman tells his family that if it's meant to be, God will make it so that his family will live in this new timeline. Instead, in the new timeline, Cartman ends up an angry, drunk, friendless bum who never did anything with his life without anyone knowing about and appreciating his sacrifice. It’s genuinely heartbreaking that the weight of his sacrifice reduces him to a hobo, with only his former friends pitying him.
    • The scene where Yentl reassures Cartman that even if the timeline is reset, they'll surely find each other again. This can literally bring tears to your eyes, knowing what happens to Cartman in the new timeline.
  • At one point, future Randy and Stan have a heart to heart where it looks like Randy finally forgives his son for what he did all those years ago, just for him to yank the rug out from under Stan by suddenly snapping back into denial mode. Their relationship ends up being mended in the revised timeline, but knowing South Park there's no telling if it'll actually stick.
