This Frozen fanfic has a number of waterworks-inducing moments, given its setting prior to the events of the movie.

Anna knocking on the door and clearly begging to reach out to Elsa is bad enough by itself. But this fic carries on beyond that and ventures into darker territory by having Elsa then attempt suicide. Anna's horrified reaction the moment she realizes what Elsa's doing, and her tone of voice when she summons Gerda to intervene, only makes it worse. The author had to actually put a trigger warning because of Elsa's suicide attempt.
