**Right after that, Lucario dies in Ash's hands and disappears into the afterlife after he transfered all of his Aura into the Tree Of Beginning to save it. It also doesn't help that Ash was helping him in doing so, but halfway through, Lucario realizes that Ash will lose his life if he keeps this up and pushes him back to stop him from draining all of his Aura and dies in his stead. Even though Ash knows that Lucario is gone but not forgotten via their Aura, he still couldn't believe that he died, begging him to stay with them and hold on, but his semi-transparent body disappears in front of him, causing his demise. One has to wonder if when Ash finally got a Lucario of his own, it reminded him of that Lucario.
